Guwahati: Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya attended a special interactive meeting with farmers, artisans, weavers, and entrepreneurs at the Central Institute of Technology (CIT) in Kokrajhar.
This interaction followed his historic address at the Assam Assembly session, held outside Guwahati for the first time.
During the meeting, Governor Acharya commended the remarkable contributions of the local community to Assam’s agricultural, weaving, and entrepreneurial sectors.
He emphasised that their dedication plays a crucial role in advancing the economic development of Assam, particularly in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
Praising the state’s rich agrarian heritage, the Governor noted that micro and small enterprises significantly contribute to Assam’s prosperity.
He encouraged the farmers, weavers, artisans, and entrepreneurs to continue their work and set an example for the younger generation, urging them to become role models in the entrepreneurial ecosystem and help shape Assam’s future.
The Governor also highlighted the consistent efforts of the Central Government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in supporting farmers through various welfare programs.
He urged the people to take full advantage of these schemes to establish themselves as exemplary figures in their fields.
In particular, he advocated for the promotion of sustainable agricultural practices, such as organic farming and climate-resilient crops, which can help farmers generate employment and enhance self-reliance.

In addition to his remarks, Governor Acharya encouraged everyone to listen to Prime Minister Modi’s Mann Ki Baat, calling it a source of inspiration with valuable ideas for improving living standards.
As part of the event, the Governor also participated in a symbolic gesture, handing over essential goods to the District Commissioner of Kokrajhar under the Governor Assam Amrit Sarovar Sadbhavna Sangat Protsahan Yojana.
These items were then distributed to beneficiaries in the region.
The event was attended by various dignitaries, including BTC Chief Executive Member Pramod Boro, Principal Secretary Akashdeep, Padma Awardee Dr. Mangal Singh Hazowary, Dr. Anil Kumar Boro, and several others.
