Guwahati: Assam government is going to launch a ‘cheaper’ new cab service app for the citizens in 2023.
Assam transport minister Parimal Suklabaidya on Saturday held a meeting with the cab drivers of Guwahati at the ISBT.
The transport minister said the government is trying to rope in around 50,000 cab owners under the new initiative.
Suklabaidya said the new City Cab service will be beneficial for everyone as it is going to be cheaper for the passengers and more lucrative for the drivers.
The drivers will not have to pay any commission for each ride to the app. They will have to pay only Rs. 12.50 per day.
The minister said the government decided to launch the new city cab service because the cab owners have been complaining that Uber and Ola have been taking away the lion’s share of the consumer rupee in the form of commission.
Similarly, the commuters also need to pay higher fare because of the two giant cab operators in Guwahati.
