Guwahati: The Assam government on Tuesday unveiled the third phase of its flagship financial support scheme for women, ‘Orunodoi 3.0’, making it the largest anti-poverty initiative in the state.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the scheme will now benefit over 38 lakh families, with each household receiving Rs 1,250 per month.
Additionally, beneficiaries will get an extra Rs 250 to support the purchase of LPG cylinders.
“Since its inception, Orunodoi has helped countless families escape poverty and live with dignity. With the launch of Orunodoi 3.0, we have strengthened the state’s support system to ensure that no economically weaker family is left behind,” Sarma said, adding that a “special surprise” is planned for February.

The chief minister highlighted that the government’s welfare measures extend beyond Orunodoi, including free rice, subsidised pulses and LPG cylinders, free education, incentives for girl child education, and free healthcare.
“#Orunodoi3 provides a comprehensive support net aligned with the principle of Antyodaya,” Sarma added in a post on X, following the launch event in Guwahati.
