Guwahati: Assam government on Monday felicitated the NCC cadets who returned from the prestigious Republic Day Camp (RDC) 2025 in New Delhi.
The event, held at the Rudra Singha Sports Complex in Dispur, was attended by Assam’s Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare, Nandita Garlosa, as chief guest.
This year, the North Eastern Region (NER) NCC contingent made history with its largest-ever participation at RDC 2025, with 176 cadets, including 89 from Assam, representing the region.
Their stellar performances at the camp earned them accolades and pride for the state and the nation.
Notably, the NER contingent’s original composition “Desh” was honoured as the Best Song at RDC.
In a remarkable achievement, 12 cadets from the NER took part in the Kartavya Path Parade, while 11 cadets were selected for the Special Guard of Honour.
Senior Under Officer Gracy Marak’s appointment as Parade Commander for the Prime Minister’s Rally was a moment of immense pride, both for Assam and the entire NER.
Additionally, the Mixed Pipe and Drums Band, consisting of 45 cadets from Mizoram, was named the ‘Best Band of NCC 2024-25’ for their outstanding performance.
Among the standout honourees was SUO Aryamitra Nath of 8 Assam Bn NCC, Nagaon, who was awarded the Raksha Mantri Padak for his exemplary service and dedication.
Lieutenant Moitree Hazarika, Associate NCC Officer (ANO) at South Point School, Guwahati, was also recognised with the distinguished Rajya Raksha Mantri Padak for her exceptional contributions to the NCC.
Addressing the crowd, Sports minister Nandita Garlosa lauded the cadets for their discipline, hard work, and commitment.
She highlighted the crucial role the NCC plays in shaping young people into responsible, patriotic citizens and encouraged the cadets to continue striving for excellence.
“Their achievements at the Republic Day Camp reflect their unwavering determination and the high standards set by the NCC,” she said.
