Dispur: The Assam government has released the list of ministers and senior officials who will hoist the National Flag in various district headquarters across the state on Independence Day, 2025.
According to an official notification, the ministers will represent the government in different districts during the 78th Independence Day celebrations on August 15.
Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass will hoist the flag at South Salmara-Mankachar, while Agriculture Minister Atul Bora will lead the ceremony in Jorhat.
Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Keshab Mahanta has been assigned to Nagaon, and Handloom & Textiles Minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma will do the honours in Baksa.
Environment and Forest Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary will hoist the flag in Kamrup, while Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu will be present at Biswanath.
Other key assignments include Health Minister Ashok Singhal at Sonitpur, Transport Minister Jogen Mohan at Charaideo, and Finance Minister Ajanta Neog at Sivasagar.
Water Resources Minister Pijush Hazarika will represent the government at Morigaon, Industries Minister Bimal Bora at Tinsukia, and Public Health Engineering Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah at Nalbari.
Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Nandita Gorlosa will hoist the flag in Bongaigaon, Power Minister Prasanta Phukan in Dibrugarh, and Food & Civil Supplies Minister Kaushik Rai in Silchar.
Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Minister Krishnendu Paul will be in Sribhumi, while Labour Welfare Minister Rupesh Gowala will be at Lakhimpur.

Chief Executive Members of Autonomous Councils will also participate: Pramod Boro in Kokrajhar, Gobinda Chandra Basumatary in Udalguri, Tuliram Ronghang in Diphu, and Debolal Gorlosa in Haflong.
Deputy Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly, Dr. Numal Momin, will hoist the flag in Goalpara.
In districts where no minister or council head is assigned, the respective Deputy Commissioners, Co-District Commissioners, or Sub-Divisional Officers (Civil) will perform the flag hoisting, the notification said.
The directive was issued by the Chief Secretary, Dr. Ravi Kota, with necessary instructions sent to district administrations and security agencies to ensure smooth conduct of the celebrations.
