Guwahati: A reunion rally for ex-servicemen (ESM) along with the Silver Jubilee celebration of the ESM Association, Borjhar, was held on Sunday at Hari Gayatri Das College in Azara.
The event commemorated the association’s 25 years of service and provided a platform to address various grievances related to pensions, banking, and documentation issues under one roof.
The rally saw a strong turnout, with 93 ex-servicemen, 46 widows, and 73 wives/dependents of ESM in attendance.
The ESM rally was presided over by Brig. Polash Choudhury, SM (Retd.), Director of the Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Assam, who served as chief guest. Col. Robin Coomar Das (Retd.) was the guest of honour.
Col. Padmalochan Barman (Retd.), Welfare Officer of the Zila Sainik Welfare Office, Kamrup (M), along with his staff, hosted the event. Other attendees included retired senior officers from the Armed Forces and serving civil dignitaries.

The rally covered several aspects such as Re-settlement & Re-habilitation of Ex-servicemen, Welfare schemes provided by Kendriya Sainik Board, New Delhi & Rajya Sainik Board, Assam, Welfare Schemes provided by Government of Assam, SPARSH along with pension related grievances, ECHS related issues, Reservation of Seats in Medical, Dental and Engineering Colleges and Reservation of 2% vacancies in Group A, B, C and D of Assam Govt recruitment.
He also apprised the Ex-Servicemen community about the Assam Governor’s “Rashtriya Kritagyata Evam Jagrookta Yojana”, a sensitization initiative of the Governor of Assam in partnership with the Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Assam.
Brig Polash Choudhury congratulated ESM Association, Borjhar on the completion of 25 glorious years and conveyed gratitude to the veterans and their families for their sacrifice and services to the nation.
He urged them to continue contributing towards social and nation-building through engagement with serving personnel and civil dignitaries.
He also assured expeditious redressal of their grievances/issues and reiterated the unwavering commitment of the Rajya Sainik Board to the welfare and well-being of Ex-Servicemen community.
In recognition of their sacrifice and service, veer naris, orphans and disabled dependent and eminent veterans were felicitated during the rally.
