Guwahati: Ex-Servicemen Mega Rally was organised at Hem Barua Higher Secondary School, Ghoramari, under the aegis of Gajraj Corps.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from over 3,000 attendees, including ex-servicemen (ESM), war widows, widows, and battle casualties.
Major General H.S. Gill, YSM, General Officer Commanding, 71 Infantry Division, attended the occasion as the chief guest. In his address, he reaffirmed the organization’s unwavering commitment to the ESM community, recognizing their sacrifices for the nation.
Brigadier Polash Choudhury, SM (Retd), Director of the Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Assam, presented financial assistance to orphaned children.
Speaking at the event, he highlighted the sensitivity of both Central and state governments toward the challenges and welfare of ex-servicemen.
Brigadier Choudhury urged the ESM community to stay informed about new welfare schemes and job opportunities designed for their benefit.
He also encouraged participation in the Governor of Assam’s Rashtriya Kritagyta avm Jagrukta Yojna, an initiative aimed at inspiring school and college students toward discipline, patriotism, and the ethos of placing the nation above self.

The rally featured various welfare and awareness counters, addressing the needs of the ESM community.
Representatives from the Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (Pensions) provided assistance with pension-related queries, while organisations like SBI, Axis Bank, the Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Department, and the Agricultural Department offered services and information.
A highlight of the event was the felicitation of battle casualties, Veer Naris, and Veer Mothers, honouring their extraordinary contributions and sacrifices.
