GUWAHATI: Assam down town University (AdtU) hosted a thrilling swimming championship on Thursday, featuring eight exciting events for boys and girls.
The event was graced by esteemed guests that include Subudh Malla Baruah, chairman of Asian Sports Journalist Association and Assam Sports Journalist Association; Bikash Boruah, international gold medalist, Rupak Baisya, sports journalist and CEO of Sports Academy; and Rajeeb Das, sports organiser.
The championship saw enthusiastic participation from young swimmers, who showcased their skills in various events.
In the 50m Backstroke (Boys) category, Nibir Nitin Krow secured the first position, followed by Nihal Hazarika in second and Wasbir Rahman in third position.
Antara Aziza secured the gold medal in the 50m Backstroke event for girls, followed by Luna Bania in second place and Disha Rani Pathak in third.
In 50m Butterfly (Boys), Nibir Nilim Kraw secured the first position, followed by Nayanmoni Das and Kirti Kamal Hazarika in second and third positions respectively.
In 50m Butterfly (Girls), Antara Aziza emerged winner followed by Reema Limbu (2nd) and Urshita Malakar (3rd).
In 50m Breaststroke (Boys), Nahar Das secured the first position followed by Tanmoy Rabha and Jyotiraditya Medhi in the second and third positions.
In the 50m Breaststroke (Girls) category, Luna Bania emerged winner followed by Shruti Hazarika (2nd) and Monjita Saikia (3rd).
In Freestyle (Boys), Nahar Das emerged winner followed by Nihar Hazarika (2nd) and Hrishikesh Malakar (3rd).
In the 50m Freestyle (Girls) category, Reema Limbu secured the first position followed by Shruti Hazarika (2nd) and Monjita Saikia (3rd).
“Sports are an integral part of our curriculum at AdtU,” said an official of Assam down town University.
“We believe that events like these help build character, discipline and camaraderie among our students. We will continue to organize such events to promote a culture of excellence in sports and academics,” he added.
The event was a huge success, with the guests praising the university’s efforts in promoting sports and encouraging young talent.
