Assam: AdtU hosts roundtable on ‘Reimagining University Administration in the Age of Digital Transformation’

Guwahati: Assam down town University (AdtU) hosted an engaging roundtable discussion on the theme “Reimagining University Administration in the Age of Digital Transformation” at its campus on Thursday (November 13).

The event brought together eminent education leaders, policymakers, and academic administrators to deliberate on the evolving landscape of higher education governance in a digital era.

The session commenced with the arrival of distinguished guests, followed by a networking lunch, setting the stage for open dialogue and collaboration.

Prof. (Dr.) Narayan Chandra Talukdar, Vice Chancellor of Assam down town University, delivered the welcome remarks, emphasizing the university’s commitment to innovation in higher education and its role as a hub for academic and administrative excellence.

The special address was delivered by R. Karthik, Director General, CIPU, who highlighted the importance of digital frameworks in enhancing transparency, accountability, and efficiency in institutional administration.

Prof. (Dr.) D. P. Agrawal, Distinguished Member of the CIPU Board of Advisors and Former Chairman of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), served as the Session Chairperson and set the context for the discussion with his insightful opening remarks.

In his address, Prof. Agrawal noted, “Universities stand at the crossroads of change today. Digital transformation is not just about technology; it is about rethinking systems, empowering people, and building institutions that are adaptive, data-driven, and inclusive. The goal is to create a culture where innovation supports both governance and learning.”

Following the opening session, a 125-minute roundtable discussion brought forward diverse perspectives from academia, government bodies, and digital education experts. The discussion explored themes such as integrating AI in university management, data-driven decision-making, improving student engagement, and enhancing operational efficiency through digital tools.

The event concluded with Prof. (Dr.) Nitul Jyoti Das, Deputy Registrar (Academics), Assam down town University, delivering the concluding remarks and vote of thanks. He expressed gratitude to all participants for their valuable contributions and reaffirmed the university’s vision to lead with innovation and inclusivity.
