Guwahati: The International Conference on Science, Technology, Innovation and Policy for Global Health and Sustainability (ICSTIP-2025) began on Monday at Assam down town University (AdtU), marking the launch of a major academic event aimed at promoting research, innovation, and sustainable development.
Organised by the university’s Faculty of Science, the inaugural session opened with the traditional lighting of the lamp and Saraswati Vandana led by Dr. Radali Duarah.
ICSTIP-2025 President Dr. Manash Pratim Sarma welcomed participants and outlined the conference’s objectives, stressing the need for interdisciplinary collaboration to address global and national development challenges.
AdtU Vice-Chancellor Prof. N.C. Talukdar, in his inaugural address, reaffirmed the university’s commitment to building a strong research culture that drives innovation and sustainability.
The Souvenir and Abstract Book of ICSTIP-2025 was also released during the event, featuring a compilation of research papers and innovative ideas from participants.
Former Assam Agricultural University Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Kamal Malla Bujarbaruah, who attended as chief guest, highlighted the importance of collaborative research for sustainable growth in the Northeast.
The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Suraksha S. Diwan, Scientist-F at the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, on the theme “Harnessing Biotechnology for Sustainable Development in the North Eastern Region — India’s Emerging Growth Engine.”
Dr. Diwan spoke about the transformative role of biotechnology in economic growth, livelihood improvement, and environmental conservation.
The session also featured international speakers, including Marek Zborowski from the University of Applied Sciences, Poland, and Prof. Vera Ferro Lebres, Pro-President of the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança, Portugal, who shared global insights on innovation and research collaboration.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Partha Pratim Kalita, Convenor of ICSTIP-2025, who expressed gratitude to dignitaries, delegates, and participants for their contributions to the success of the inaugural ceremony.
