Guwahati: The Assam down town University hosted its 11th Convocation Ceremony on Wednesday. The event was held at the University’s grand amphitheater in Panikhaiti.
The ceremony was presided over by the Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya. Assam Cabinet Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah graced the event as the guest of honour.
The Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor welcomed the graduates and commended their achievements.
Addressing the ceremony, the Governor highlighted the pivotal role of education in fostering societal progress. He said, “As you embark upon your respective journeys, remember that knowledge is not merely a vehicle for personal advancement but a powerful means to uplift and transform your communities.”
Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah inspired the graduates to utilize their skills for the betterment of the state. He said, “Your journey is just beginning. Embrace the challenges ahead and leverage your education to drive meaningful change.”
A diverse group of students, including PhD, Post Graduate, and Undergraduate students, received their degrees. The Chancellor awarded Gold Medals to the Best Post-Graduate and Best Under Graduate students, recognizing their exceptional accomplishments.
The Best Post Graduate Student administered the Oath of Dedication, encouraging fellow graduates to uphold their professional and ethical responsibilities.
The Vice-Chancellor highlighted the University’s progress and commitment to fostering a learning environment. “Today, we celebrate not only your academic success but also our collective commitment to fostering an environment of learning and innovation,” he added.

The ceremony concluded with the Governor signing the Convocation Book. The National Anthem marked the end of the event.
