GUWAHATI: Assam Congress chief Bhupen Kumar Borah has declared that the opposition alliance is resolute and will stand united for both the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha general elections and the subsequent 2026 state assembly elections.
Asserting the party’s commitment to preventing the division of votes among opposition parties, Borah unveiled a meticulously crafted three-member panel for each of Assam’s 14 constituencies.
Borah, addressing the press, revealed that the panel was established in accordance with instructions from the party’s central leadership.
The move comes after the state Congress unit released a tentative three-member panel list for candidates in each of Assam’s 14 Lok Sabha constituencies, which will soon be presented to the central leadership for final approval.
Here is the list of key Congress leaders that have been strategically nominated to represent various constituencies:
Nagaon: Pradyot Bordoloi, Gaurav Gogoi, and Rakibul Hussain.
Silchar: Naiwrita Joy Shukla and Soumya Kanti Purkayastha.
Karimganj: Hafiz Rashid Choudhury, Zubair Anam, and Aminur Rashid Choudhury.
Barpeta: Abdul Khaleque, Bobbeeta Sharma, and Deep Bayan.
Guwahati: Mira Borthakur, Romen Borthakur, and Dwijen Sharma.
Dhubri: Wazed Ali Choudhury, Abdur Rashid Mandal, Abdul Hamid, Rokibul Hussain, Abdul Khaleque, and Noor Shafiqul.
Dibrugarh: Neel Netra Neog, Raju Sahu, and Durga Bhumij.
Jorhat: Gaurav Gogoi and Krishna Gogoi.
Lakhimpur: Ranee Narah and Uday Shankar Hazarika.
Sonitpur: Barnali Phukan, Ram Prasad Sharma, and Prem Lal Ganju.
