Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday chaired a series of meetings with representatives from 28 organizations from the Bodo community at the Assam Legislative Assembly.
As per sources, the discussions focused on the welfare, aspirations and key issues of Bodo communities living outside Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), including those in Rabha Hasong and Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council areas.
The meetings were part of the state government’s continuing dialogue with indigenous groups across Assam. The discussions highlighted the importance of government engagement in the affairs of the Bodo communities.
The government claims the interactions as a renewed expression of its commitment to inclusive, equitable and holistic development. It said that the discussions reflected its focus on addressing issues concerning the Bodo community through consistent institutional engagement.

Emphasis was laid on the issues concerning the people residing in areas administered by the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council and the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council.
Meanwhile, in a post on X, CM Sarma said that he listened to the issues faced by the Bodo people living outside the BTR and assured that the state government would take necessary steps to safeguard their welfare and ensure their overall development.
He wrote, “Met representatives of various Bodo organisations today to take stock of their issues. I heard and understood about the issues of Bodo people living outside BTR. Our Govt will take all measures to ensure their welfare and all round development.”
