Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi to discuss a range of issues linked to the State’s development and welfare initiatives.
During the meeting, Sarma briefed the Finance Minister on ongoing projects and outlined Assam’s key priorities across sectors such as infrastructure and connectivity, social welfare, education, healthcare and employment generation.

He also flagged the State’s financial requirements to maintain its growth trajectory and strengthen the delivery of public services.
The chief minister thanked Sitharaman for her continued support to Assam, stating that close cooperation between the Centre and the State has been instrumental in accelerating development in recent years.
He said central assistance and policy backing have enabled Assam to carry out major reforms and roll out several people-centric schemes aimed at improving governance and livelihoods.
