Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated and laid foundation stones for development projects worth over Rs 2000 crore in Karbi Anglong district on Wednesday.
The Chief Minister’s Office in a post on X said, “A total of 54 projects worth ₹816 crore were inaugurated, while foundation stones for over 100 projects worth ₹1,293 crore were laid, marking a significant step towards transforming infrastructure, strengthening connectivity and improving civic services across the hill district.”
“These initiatives reaffirm the Govt of Assam’s commitment to ensure holistic development in the region, ushering in new opportunities and a brighter future for the people of Karbi Anglong,” the post added.
CM Sarma dedicated the state-of-the-art Diphu Cancer Centre to the people of the region. The facility, built at a cost of Rs 270 crore, is expected to enhance access to advanced and affordable oncology care in the hill district.
The centre will reduce the need for patients to travel long distances for specialised cancer treatment, bringing critical healthcare services closer to residents of the region. The Chief Minister also announced plans for the establishment of a BSc Nursing College in Diphu.

Further, he also inaugurated the four-lane Khorsing Terang Ingjarkap Flyover in Diphu, constructed at a cost of Rs 228 crore. The major infrastructure project is set to ensure seamless traffic movement, ease congestion and significantly improve connectivity in the town.
“Marking another milestone in the development journey of Karbi Anglong, Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr @himantabiswa inaugurated the 4-lane Khorsing Terang Ingjarkap Flyover in Diphu, constructed at a cost of ₹228 crore,” the CMO said in a post on X.
Additionally, CM Sarma also laid the foundation stone for Assam’s second Sainik School in Karbi Anglong, which will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 365 crore.
