Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has extended invitations to several Union Ministers for the upcoming Assam Investor and Infrastructure Summit and Mega Jhumur Performance scheduled for February 2025.
During his recent visit to New Delhi, Sarma held a series of productive meetings with key Union Ministers, including Nitin Gadkari, J P Nadda, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Piyush Goyal, and Ashwini Vaishnaw, where a range of important state issues were discussed.
In a meeting with Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, Sarma focused on ongoing national highway projects in Assam, particularly the Guwahati ring road project. Following the meeting, Sarma took to social media to express his satisfaction, writing, “Happy to share! Just concluded an excellent meeting with Hon’ble Union Minister Shri @nitin_gadkari Ji. I am truly impressed by the unwavering support from @MORTHIndia in expediting priority infrastructure projects in Assam, ensuring they are completed on time.”
Sarma also met Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, where the Chief Minister invited him to the February summit. They also discussed the upcoming Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav and the state’s ongoing development projects. Sarma shared on X (formerly Twitter), “This morning, I had the pleasure to invite Hon’ble Union Minister Shri @JM_Scindia ji to the #AdvantageAssam summit to be held in Guwahati in Feb 2025.”
Additionally, Sarma reached out to Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, seeking his support in engaging potential investors and stakeholders for the summit.
“I am extremely grateful to the Hon’ble Union Minister Piyush Goyal for giving his time – our second meeting in less than a week – and providing his valuable guidance. We are looking forward to the Commerce Ministry’s support in inviting potential investors and other stakeholders to attend this key summit,” Sarma wrote as he extended invitation to the minister.
On Tuesday, Sarma also met with BJP President and Union Minister J P Nadda, formally inviting him to the summit, aimed at boosting investment and economic growth in Assam. During their discussion, Sarma highlighted the state’s progress in implementing central healthcare initiatives, such as the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) and Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, which have significantly strengthened Assam’s healthcare infrastructure.
In another meeting, Sarma met Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw and extended a formal invitation for the Advantage Assam Summit.
It is worth mentioning that the Chief Minister of Assam has also invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the summit.
