Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday inaugurated a state-of-the-art Convention Centre at Chinnamara in Jorhat.
The newly constructed facility, built at a cost of Rs 19.98 crore, is set to become a vital hub for events in the district.
The convention centre, spanning an impressive 3,118 square metres, boasts a 120-seating capacity and is equipped with a range of modern amenities.
These include an executive lounge, a dedicated media conference hall, and comfortable suite cabins, designed to cater to a variety of needs.

“This convention centre will serve as an important venue for both the district administration and the people of Jorhat,” Sarma said.
He also planted a Neem tree sapling on the premises to mark the occasion.
Besides, CM Sarma also launched Assam’s second fully automated vehicle testing centre in Jorhat.
“Keeping our promise, we are launching Assam’s second fully automated vehicle testing centre in Jorhat. Revolutionizing vehicle fitness—zero hassle, zero corruption, 100% automation,” he said.

The chief minister also inaugurated the Railway Overbridge on Komarbondha Road.
“Rs 1 lakh crore is being invested to revolutionise Assam’s infrastructure. This translates into building nearly one bridge and 15 km of road every day. Jorhat’s Railway Overbridge is yet another manifestation of this endeavour,” CM Sarma posted on X.
With a total investment of Rs 110.77 crore, these projects mark a significant step in Jorhat’s development.
