Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the Saraighat Lake Park in Amingaon on Monday with an aim to promote sustainable tourism and preserve the scenic wetland.
In his inaugural speech, the Chief Minister stated that the project’s objective was to conserve the ecological significance of the wetland and to develop it into a vibrant tourist destination.
“I inaugurated the Saraighat Lake Park in Amingaon, Guwahati. Amidst the fast-paced growth in the area, this park preserves the pristine lake and offers a proper recreation and tourism spot to the people. For us, development and conservation go hand in hand,” Sarma posted on X.
Minister for Tourism Ranjeet Kumar Dass and other dignitaries also graced the inauguration ceremony of the park.
In addition to its beautiful and serene environment, the park features a range of facilities, including water sports such as jet skiing and boating.
The Chief Minister also commended the Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) for its efforts, expressing confidence that the area’s charm and tourism potential would continue to grow.
“We envisioned preserving the wetland while creating a thoughtfully designed structure to attract tourists. I am sure that the beauty of this lake will be further enhanced in the days to come by Assam Tourism Development Corporation,” CM Sarma said.

The park, developed with a blend of ecological sensitivity and modern design, is expected to become a prominent spot for both local visitors and tourists.
