Guwahati: Assam’s efforts to develop young athletes received a boost with the inauguration of two new residential sports academies at Uttar Fulung in North Guwahati on August 16.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma officially opened the GTC Football Academy and ACA Cricket Academy.
“Assam has a lot of good infrastructure when it comes to sports, but our goal isn’t just building infrastructure; it is about creating talent,” CM Sarma added.
He further added, “If we have to create world-class athletes, we have to create world-class facilities for them and that’s exactly what we are doing here in Assam. The best infrastructure and training in every district.”
For these projects, the Assam government has allotted 40 bighas of land at Uttar Fulung under the North Guwahati Revenue Circle.
