Guwahati: A delegation from the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) called on Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday in Guwahati to discuss plans for constructing a Venkateswara Swami temple in the city.
The meeting took place at Sarma’s office here on Friday evening, the chief minister’s office (CMO) said in a post on X.
“HCM Dr. @himantabiswa met Shri B.R. Naidu, Chairman, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) and his esteemed delegation at Lok Sewa Bhawan, Dispur,” it said.
They discussed the construction of the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Guwahati, the CMO added.
The Sri Venkateswara Swami Temple in Tirumala, Andhra Pradesh is a major Hindu pilgrimage site. The temple is dedicated to Lord Venkateswara, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
The project has received official approval, with the state government allotting 15 acres of land for its construction.
Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), which manages the affairs of Lord Venkateswara temple at Tirumala and nearly five dozen temples across India, recently resolved to construct at least one temple of Lord Venkateswara in every state in the country.

“This is a key step forward in spreading the glory of Lord Venkateswara across the length and breadth of the country. The temple trust also plans to construct Lord Balaji temples abroad,” TTD chairman BR Naidu said.
