GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday inaugurated the new Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Dibrugarh town.
The chief minister said that with the opening of a new secretariat, 9 districts surrounding Dibrugarh will have proximity to top-level decision-making.
“This Secretariat is not just a building but illustrates our sustained efforts to bring governance closer to the people,” CM Sarma said.
Sama added, “Since the last 3 years we are focussing on establishing districts as the fulcrum of governance. We have empowered district and sub-district machinery to take most decisions.”
People in nine districts – Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Sivasagar, Jorhat, Majuli, Golaghat, Charaideo, Lakhimpur, and Dhemaji – can now access administrative services closer to home, eliminating the need to travel to Guwahati.
Notably, CM Sarma said he would be residing in Dibrugarh four days every month to address the concerns of the people in Upper Assam.
Stating that the office will bridge Dibrugarh and Dispur to ensure seamless administrative functions, the chief minister further added, “Over the coming months, you will see faster decision-making and quicker implementation of projects due to these efforts.”
The chief minister made several significant decisions regarding state administration during the inaugural day of the new office.
