Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inspected the site where late singer Zubeen Garg will be cremated on Tuesday (September 23).
The chief minister visited the site at Kamarkuchi NC village in the Sonapur revenue circle, near Guwahati, on Sunday night.
The decision to cremate Garg at Kamarkuchi was taken at a cabinet meeting on Sunday evening.
“Inspected the site where Zubeen will be put to rest, a while back. My officers will be working throughout the night and tomorrow to prepare the site for his funeral day,” CM Sarma posted on X.
He added, “All necessary works like Earth filling, boundary, etc will be done to preserve the place’s sanctity.”
Hundreds and thousands of emotional fans continue to turn up at the Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah Sports Complex to pay their last respects to Assam’s popular singer Zubeen Garg on Monday.
Visuals from outside the complex show people in large numbers waiting in long queues for the final glimpse of the music icon.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated, “We will carry the mortal remains of Zubeen Garg from Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah Sports Complex at around 8 am on September 23 to the location of Kamarkuchi, where the last rites will be conducted. A state funeral will be held on September 23.”

Chief Minister Sarma stated that the mortal remains of Zubeen Garg would be carried from the Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah Sports Complex around 8 a.m. on September 23 to Kamarkuchi, where the last rites would be performed. He added that a state funeral would also be held on the same day.
