Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday officially launched the distribution of 3,88,358 sanction letters to beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) scheme.
At a central event in Rampur, Palashbari, Kamrup district, Sarma handed over sanction letters to 10 beneficiaries, symbolizing the start of this initiative.
The first instalment of Rs. 37,500 will be directly credited to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts to aid in constructing pucca houses.
Speaking at the event, Sarma emphasized the government’s commitment to “Housing for All,” stating, “With the distribution of PMAY-G sanction letters, we are turning the vision of providing housing for every citizen into a reality.”
The chief minister highlighted the state’s goal to complete 26 lakh PMAY homes while also planning 15 lakh additional houses to ensure no family is left without a permanent shelter.
Sarma assured residents that those excluded from the current beneficiary list would have another opportunity during the “Awas Plus Survey,” set to be conducted from March 17 to 26.
