Assam CM directs officials to live-stream Jhumur dance performance in tea garden areas on Feb 24

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has directed the district commissioners to live-stream the grand Jhumur dance performance featuring 8,000 artistes in tea gardens on February 24 at Sarusajai.

The Jhumar dance performance, which aims to set a world record, will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In a video conference with officials, the CM directed its live-streaming in tea gardens to allow the community in remote areas to also participate in the celebration.

This initiative serves as a tribute to the 200-year legacy of Assam Tea, symbolizing Assam’s deep-rooted pride in its globally renowned tea industry.

During the meeting with the district commissioners at Lok Sewa Bhawan in Guwahati via video conference, the chief minister assessed and deliberated on the progress of several key initiatives.

CM Sarma also reviewed the progress of key welfare initiatives, including Orunodoi 3.0, Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan, and Mukhyamantri Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan.

Highlighting the role of local governance in the implementation of Orunodoi 3.0, Sarma underscored the responsibilities of co-district commissioners in monitoring and ensuring the effective execution of the scheme at the scheme.

“As integral members of the District Level Monitoring Committees, they would be tasked with ensuring the scheme’s reach and efficacy, facilitating its execution at the grassroots level,” he added.

He also reviewed the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan and Mukhyamantri Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan, which are designed to promote economic self-reliance through entrepreneurship and women’s empowerment.
