Silchar: Assam cabinet ministers along with senior officials on Sunday reviewed preparations ahead of Union Home minister Amit Shah’s visit to Natanpur village under Katigorah LAC in Cachar district. Shah is slated to launch the second phase of Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP) during his visit on February 21.
In a bid to ensure smooth and successful conduct of the event, detailed discussions were also held with concerned officials. Assam cabinet Ministers Jayanta Mallabaruah and Kaushik Rai were accompanied by Cachar Deputy Commissioner Ayush Garg, Senior Superintendent of Police Partha Protim Das, and other senior district officials during the inspections.
In a post on ‘X’, Assam cabinet Minister Kaushik Rai said, “Visited Natanpur village under Katigorah LAC to review preparations for Hon’ble HM Shri Amit Shah Ji’s visit on 20th February, for the Vibrant Village Programme (VVP). Along with Minister Shri @jayanta_malla, district & police officials and party karyakartas, inspected the venue and reviewed arrangements.”
The Vibrant Village Programme (VVP) is a strategic initiative focused on strengthening infrastructure, security and economic opportunities in border villages while reinforcing national integration.

As per reports, Shah is expected to reach Assam on February 20 and will arrive at Natanpur village near the international border the next morning. Shah is also set to participate in a CRPF parade and highlight efforts to promote recruitment in the CRPF and IAF.
The ceremony will feature an arms display and presentations on CRPF operations in Chhattisgarh and Kashmir, with an invitation extended to local NCC cadets to inspire their potential recruitment into the force.
The visit assumes significance as action against illegal immigrants from Bangladesh forms a central poll plank of the BJP ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in the state.
