Assam Cabinet approves Rs 2,000 cr for implementation of various schemes

Guwahati: The Assam Cabinet has approved Rs 2,000 crore for the implementation of several initiatives, including the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Udyamita Asoni (MMMUA) and the Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Asoni schemes for the financial year 2024-25.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made the announcement after a cabinet meeting in Morigaon on Thursday.

The chief minister said, “Although around 31 lakh women have qualified for the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Udyamita Asoni (scheme), only 27 lakh will benefit from it in the coming days. We have finalized guidelines to provide financial support to 27 lakh women from the Self-Help Group community.”

Sarma said, “Through this scheme, women members of self-help groups in Assam will be provided Rs 10,000 in the first phase, Rs 25,000 in the second phase with bank and government assistance, and up to Rs 50,000 in the third phase through banks.”

He further added, “Guidelines for the MMMUA implementation were also approved, with seed capital distribution set to begin in Behali constituency in April 2025, followed by other constituencies.”

To ensure uninterrupted development in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), the Cabinet approved the release of Rs 401.50 crore SOPD-G funds for projects to be implemented by the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC).

The Cabinet approved guidelines for constituting Anganwadi Center Management Committees to ensure the proper functioning of Anganwadi Centers (AWCs) across the state.

The Cabinet approved an enhancement of the state’s share capital in Assam Power Generation Company Ltd, increasing it from Rs 3,000 crore to Rs 6,000 crore.

The Assam cabinet has approved a series of development projects for Morigaon. Rs 70 crore has been allocated to road connecting Balimukh to Sildubi via Bhuragaon while Rs 55 crore was approved for the drainage system for Morigaon Town.

The Assam cabinet has also approved the construction of a new Circuit House in Morigaon with an allocated budget of Rs 15 crore.

Additionally, Rs 5 crore has been earmarked for the development of a stage in the Junbeel Mela area.

To enhance sporting facilities, the cabinet has approved Rs 5 crore for the completion of the pavilion and other amenities at the Khirod Barua Stadium.

Furthermore, a memorial for Ilaram Das Baap in Jaluguti will be constructed with a budget of Rs 5 crore.
