Dispur: The Assam state cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, convened today to deliberate on several critical issues.
Following the meeting, Health and Family Welfare Minister Ashok Singhal and Cultural Affairs Minister Bimal Borah briefed the media on the major decisions taken.
In a significant boost to healthcare workers, the cabinet approved an increase in the honorarium for ASHA workers and supervisors.
Effective October 1, 2025, the fixed monthly honorarium for ASHA workers will rise from Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 4,000, benefiting 33,656 individuals across the state.
Similarly, the honorarium for ASHA Supervisors will increase from Rs. 9,000 to Rs. 10,200, aiding 2,675 supervisors.
Under the Mission Basundhara 3.0 initiative, the cabinet also approved land allotments for 1,011 non-individual juridical entities, including educational, religious, and socio-cultural institutions in Sonitpur, Golaghat, Majuli, and Kamrup districts.
Additionally, government land allotments were sanctioned for 146 government-run institutions and infrastructure projects in Sonitpur and Golaghat districts.
The Environment and Forest Department announced the renaming of the “Pollution Control Board, Assam” to “Assam Pollution Control Board,” reflecting a more concise identity for the regulatory body.
In cultural affairs, Borah revealed that the prestigious Srimanta Sankardeva Award 2023 will be presented on June 12, 2025, at the Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra.

Renowned classical dancer Sonal Mansingh will receive the honor, which includes a Rs. 5 lakh cash prize and a citation.
Governor of Assam Lakshman Prasad Acharya will present the award on behalf of the President of India.
These decisions highlight the state government’s commitment to improving healthcare services, enhancing administrative efficiency, and promoting cultural heritage.
