GUWAHATI: Former Assam BJP state president and Guwahati East MLA, Siddhartha Bhattacharya, has been appointed by the central leadership to spearhead the procurement of public suggestions for the poll manifesto ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha Polls.
Addressing the press at the party’s state headquarters in Guwahati on Monday, Bhattacharya invited input from the people of Assam through various channels, including the party’s suggestion cards, the NaMo app, and a dedicated miss call facility.
The aim is to ensure that critical concerns of the state are forwarded to the central committee for inclusion in the election manifesto for the parliamentary polls.
Bhattacharya highlighted the importance of citizen participation, urging supporters to submit their suggestions on a range of issues related to Assam.

He highlighted that people could provide input in writing using the party’s suggestion cards, which can be deposited in drop-boxes installed in the BJP’s customised vans equipped with LED screens, traversing constituencies across the state.
This initiative comes in the wake of the Assam BJP announcing its list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls on March 2.
Notable figures featured in the list include Bijuli Kalita Medhi for Guwahati, Sarbananda Sonowal for Dibrugarh, Kamakhya Prasad Tasa for Kaziranga, and others strategically chosen to contest 11 out of the 14 Lok Sabha seats in Assam.
The BJP’s decision to allocate two seats to its allies, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), and one to the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) in Kokrajhar, reflects a strategic move aimed at maximising electoral prospects while maintaining coalition harmony.
As the election season gains momentum, Bhattacharya’s initiative underscores the BJP’s commitment to fostering democratic engagement and ensuring that the voices of the people of Assam resonate in the national political discourse.
