Assam BJP releases manifesto ‘Sankalp Patra’ for upcoming Panchayat polls

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Bharatiya Janata Party’s state chief, Dilip Saikia, released the party’s manifesto (Sankalp Patra) on Saturday for the ensuing panchayat polls at the party’s state headquarters in Guwahati.

The chief minister said the ‘Sankalp Patra’ is a road map to enhance rural prosperity.

CM Sarma stated, “The BJP’s Sankalp Patra is our vision for the holistic development of our grassroots. Every commitment in our Sankalp Patra will be implemented in letter and spirit.”

The party has also promised to construct about 47,000 kilometres of road under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.

It has also promised to continue nurturing sports talents in various villages through the successful implementation of programmes such as Khel Maharaan and Sanskritik Mahasangram, which aim to identify and hone rural talent.

Earlier, CM Sarma also shared that the NDA alliance had already secured 37 Zila Parishad seats (35 BJP and 2 AGP) and 288 Anchalik Panchayat seats (259 BJP and 29 AGP) unopposed.

The panchayat polls in Assam will be held in two phases on May 2 and May 7. The counting of votes will be held on May 11.

The Congress has also released its manifesto for the upcoming Panchayat elections. The manifesto was released by Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhupen Kumar Borah and former MP Ripun Bora during a programme at Rajiv Bhawan in Guwahati.

More than 1.80 crore voters, including 90.71 lakh male voters, 89.65 lakh female voters, and 408 other voters, will exercise their franchise in 25,007 polling stations across the state.
