GUWAHATI: A total of 1.8 crore voters, including 89.54 lakh women, have been included in the final electoral roll for Assam’s 2025 Panchayat elections, as announced in an official statement on Sunday.
The final rolls were published following the completion of the delimitation process for Gaon, Anchalik Panchayat, and Zilla Parishad constituencies in 2024 across 27 districts, with the exception of areas under the Sixth Schedule and municipal bodies.
According to the statement, the electoral roll now contains 1,80,14,913 voters, of which 90,60,640 are male, 89,53,865 are female, and 408 are from other gender categories.
These voters will cast their ballots in the upcoming elections for 397 Zilla Parishad constituencies, 181 Anchalik Panchayats, 2,192 Gaon Panchayats, and 21,920 wards.
The final electoral rolls will be available to the public on the notice boards of the Gaon Panchayat, block development offices, Zilla Parishads, and district commissioners’ offices.
Additionally, they will be accessible on the websites of the district administrations and the State Election Commission.
The statement further clarified that the process of adding new electors will continue, with the eligibility date set for January 1, 2025, in accordance with the rules.
Earlier, the Assam government had scheduled the completion of the panchayat elections with newly delimited constituencies by February 10, 2025.
However, the Gauhati High Court intervened on December 18, instructing the Assam State Election Commission not to issue any notification related to the election process without prior permission.
The next hearing on this matter has been set for January 9, 2025.
