Guwahati: The Agoratoli forest range of Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve (KNP) was reopened for tourists on Saturday (October 18).

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Assam Minister Atul Bora, Kaziranga Lok Sabha MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, and a group of tourists from Germany.

Bora officially inaugurated the Agoratoli forest range of the park by cutting the ceremonial ribbon, after which he, MP Tasa, and the visiting tourists set off on a jeep safari into the heart of the forest.

The park is open daily from 7 am to 5 pm. Jeep safaris are available in both morning and afternoon sessions, providing flexibility for tourists. Elephant safaris, on the other hand, are conducted only in the early morning, and tickets for these must be obtained the night before.

Agoratoli is particularly known for its migratory bird population.

The peak tourist season typically lasts from November to April or May, while the park remains closed during the monsoon months from June to September.

Emphasizing the forest’s unique ecological importance, Minister Bora expressed hope that Agoratoli would attract a record number of visitors this year. “The forest is not just a haven for wildlife enthusiasts, but also a key driver of eco-tourism in Assam,” he stated.

The Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve reopened its Bagori Range from September 26, offering nature and wildlife enthusiasts an opportunity to experience the park’s rich biodiversity once again.

The park’s Kohora (Central) Range will resume the popular elephant safari from November 1.

Meanwhile, Manas National Park reopened for the 2025–26 tourism season on September 24. The reopening began with an awareness rally from the first gate of the Bansbari range to the park’s main entrance.
