Guwahati: As part of its WeForNature outreach program, Aaranyak, region’s premier biodiversity conservation organisation, partnered with Nikon India and hosted a wildlife photography workshop in Guwahati on December 7.
The workshop, titled “The essentials of capturing the wild: The impact of visuals in wildlife conservation,” was held at the Aaranyak Administrative Office conference hall.
Udayan Borthakur, a distinguished wildlife photographer, senior scientist at Aaranyak, and mentor at Nikon School, served as the resource person for the event.
Borthakur delved into various aspects, techniques, and ethics of wildlife photography.
He emphasized that in addition to having an artistic eye and getting close to subjects, it’s crucial to understand the behaviour, habitat, and patterns of the animals to capture outstanding images.
Borthakur underscored the challenging and competitive nature of the field and emphasized the necessity of a genuine passion for both wildlife and photography to achieve success.
During the inaugural session, Dr. Partha J. Das, a senior environmental scientist at Aaranyak, commended the participants for their interest for wildlife photography. He emphasized that photography is a powerful and fascinating communication tool.
Mridusmrita Devi, Head of Operations at Aaranyak, expressed her joy over the successful collaboration between Aaranyak and Nikon India in organizing such a significant event.
