Guwahati: The oath-taking ceremony of the newly appointed 12 executive members (EMs) of the 5th Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) was held on Tuesday at the BTC Secretariat auditorium in Assam’s Kokrajhar.
The oath of office was administered by Mukesh Kumar Sahu, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Assam, following formal approval from the Governor.
For the first time in the history of the BTC, two women members — Munmun Brahma and Begum Akhtara Ahmed — have been inducted into the Executive Council, marking a significant step toward inclusive representation in the governance of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
The newly appointed Executive Members of the 5th Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Executive Council and their respective portfolios are as follows: Mrityunjoy Narzary has been assigned the Transport department, while Munmun Brahma will oversee Urban Development. Robiram Narzary will look after Education, and Derhasat Basumatary has been given charge of Health and Family Welfare.
Prakash Basumatary will handle Social Welfare, and Paniram Brahma will head the Forest and Wildlife department.
Dhiraj Borgoyari has been entrusted with Soil Conservation and Legal Metrology, while Begum Akhtara Ahmed will manage Public Health Engineering (PHE).
Agustis Tigga will take charge of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Ganesh Kachari will oversee Irrigation, Loumshrao Daimary will be responsible for Land Revenue and Disaster Management, and Fresh Mushahary will lead the Water Resources department.
BTC Chief Executive Member (CEM) Hagrama Mohilary, BTC Deputy Chief Rihon Daimary, BTC Legislative Assembly Speaker Tridip Daimary, and Assam Cabinet Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah were among the dignitaries who graced the occasion.
The Bodoland People’s Front (BPF), which won a clear majority with 28 seats in the recently concluded BTC elections, has formed the new government on its own.
