Guwahati: The Armed Forces Flag Day 2024 was observed at Raj Bhavan in Guwahati on Saturday in a befitting manner.
The solemn occasion was held to honour the Armed Forces personnel who safeguard the nation’s frontiers and preserve its territorial integrity.
In his address to the gathering of Veer Naris, Disabled Soldiers, Veterans, and serving Armed Forces personnel, Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya conveyed his profound respect for the courage and sacrifice of the brave soldiers and veterans.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the welfare and rehabilitation of all veterans and their families.
The Governor said, “We as a citizen of the grateful nation must make all-out efforts to take comprehensive care of the families and dependents of brave hearts who laid down their lives in the service of our motherland.”
To commemorate the occasion, the Governor released a Wall Calendar and a Table Calendar, highlighting the Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Assam’s efforts in the welfare, well-being, and rehabilitation of ex-servicemen in the state.
The Armed Forces Flag Day is observed every year on December 7 since 1949 in honour of martyrs and the men and women in uniform who valiantly fight to protect the nation’s honour at the borders.
