The Brahmaputra Riverfront Project, undertaken by the Guwahati Smart City Development Limited, is reportedly on track for completion by March this year.
The project encompasses a stretch of 1,200 meters from the old DC Bungalow to Kacharighat, offering a transformative makeover to the riverfront area.
This ambitious development includes a mix of amenities and features such as parks, seating areas, refreshment points, and dedicated spaces for cultural programmes.
The riverfront development is not only poised to enhance the visual appeal of the region but also promises to provide recreational and cultural spaces for the public.
The Chief Minister of Assam, during a visit to the site in October 2022, had highlighted the strategic importance of Guwahati as a crucial link between India and Southeast Asia.
He had underscored the need for beautification projects to showcase the city’s significance on the national and international stage.
Situated on the southern bank of the Brahmaputra River, the riverfront development is an integral component of Guwahati’s central business district.
The estimated budget for this transformative project is Rs 370 crore, signifying a significant investment in the city’s urban infrastructure and aesthetics.
