Guwahati: Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived at the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) airport in Guwahati on Saturday as part of his two-day visit to Assam.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma received Amit Shah at the airport. In a post on X, CM Sarma said the Union Home Minister would inaugurate and dedicate several development projects during his visit.
“I extend a warm welcome to Adarniya @AmitShah ji to the land of Maa Kamakhya. Adarniya Griha Mantri ji will dedicate various developmental projects and enthuse our Yuva Shakti with his words of wisdom,” CM Sarma said in the post.
Amit Shah will reportedly spend the night at the Koinadhara State Guest House in Guwahati. Although no official meeting is fixed, BJP’s Assam Media Relation Convenor Dhrubajyoti Maral expressed the party’s eagerness for Shah’s insights.
On Sunday morning, he will inaugurate the Pragjyotishpur Medical College in Guwahati, a new institution expected to strengthen healthcare services in the region.
The Pragjyotishpur Medical College and Hospital has two campuses, located at Panbazar and Kalapahar, making it the second such medical institute in the state capital after the GMCH.

Following the government programme, Shah will proceed to the Veterinary College Playground in Khanapara to attend a youth convention organised by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), where he is expected to address the gathering to inspire youths to work for the nation and society.
Around 60,000 youths from across the state are expected to attend the rally, according to BJYM sources.
Further, as per sources, the Union Minister is likely to meet the top leadership of the party and discuss the strategies for the upcoming Assam assembly polls.
