Jalukgaon (Sibsagar): In a unique event that would remain in people’s memory for a long time, the MLA of Amguri and the DC of Sibsagar planted three mango saplings near the Bornamghar of Jalukgaon.
Two of the three saplings were planted in memory of well known freedom fighter of Sibsagar and Assam, Ram Prasad Saikia and his son, Prafulla Prasad Saikia, celebrated playwright and administrator.
The third sapling was planted by the MLA Pradeep Hazarika and Aditya Vikram Yadav, the DC of Sibsagar, in the name of internationally acclaimed conflict analyst and best-selling author, Jaideep Saikia, marking three generations of the Saikia family’s contribution to the village, district, state and the nation.
Hemanta Barman, celebrated author and journalist lauded the Saikia family’s contribution and expressed hope that Jaideep Saikia would one day bring glory to his home village and reach the pinnacle of his calling by becoming India’s National Security Adviser. He sought the blessings of the gathering in the portico of the sacred Bornamghar so that Jaideep Saikia may achieve such a height.
Jaideep Saikia who was present in the ceremony on Assamese New Year’s Day thanked the MLA, Pradip Hazarika, the DC, Aditya Vikram Yadav, and the people of Jalukgaon for remembering the contribution of his forebears.
The historic event was attended by a large number of people from the village and the district.
