GUWAHATI: In the wake of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit and the sanctioning of Rs 55,600 crore worth of projects for the Northeast, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) top brass is set to descend upon Assam to drum up support ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Assam on March 14, followed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who will also be in the state on the same date.
Shah’s itinerary includes party meetings and public gatherings, strategically timed to rally support for the BJP in the run-up to the polls.
During his visit, Shah will address rallies in Margherita in Tinsukia and Nazira in Sivasagar. Additionally, on March 15, he will headline a town hall programme in Guwahati, as per Bhabesh Kalita, state president of Assam BJP.
Meanwhile, Assam Tourism Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah announced that Defence Minister Singh will join the campaign trail in Assam on March 14, aligning closely with the impending Lok Sabha elections.
Singh is slated to address rallies in Barpeta and Kokrajhar during his visit, Baruah confirmed, highlighting the party’s concerted efforts to galvanise support across the state.
The Assam BJP has precisely organised clusters in all 14 Lok Sabha constituencies, where Union Ministers and central leadership of the BJP are scheduled to make appearances.
“Rajnath Singh will be visiting the state for a political event on March 14… All preparations are being made for the visit,” Baruah had apprised the press on Sunday, expressing confidence in the party’s prospects.
With BJP contesting in 11 out of the 14 seats and its allies, AGP and UPPL, vying for the remaining, the party is leaving no stone unturned to secure victory across Assam.
As political parties gear up for the electoral battle in Assam and across the nation, the BJP’s strategic mobilisation in the state highlights its determination to emerge victorious in the forthcoming polls.
