Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit on Tuesday in Guwahati in the presence of industry captains and business delegations from foreign countries.

Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani on Tuesday pledged over Rs 50,000 crore investment in Assam over the next five years.

Addressing the Advantage Assam 2.0 summit in Guwahati, Mukesh Ambani said that the state was known as the ‘tea paradise’ but in coming years, Assam will be known as a technology paradise.

The RIL chairman added that the world will look at Assam as a land of growth opportunities.

“Assam’s tech-savvy youth will give a new meaning to AI in the coming decades. AI will not only mean Artificial Intelligence but will also mean Assam Intelligence,” Ambani added.

He also said that RIL will help Assam become a major supplier of food and non-food consumer products for national and international markets. “Southeast Asia and East Asia will look at Assam as a land of opportunity,” he stated.

He further stated that in the previous Summit in 2018, Reliance had committed an investment of Rs 5,000 crore in Assam. Since then, our investment in the state has exceeded Rs 12,000 crore, he said.

Meanwhile, Adani Group Chairperson Gautam Adani also announced an investment of Rs 50,000 crore in Assam.

Adani highlighted the transformative impact of such investor summits over the past two decades, stating that they have surpassed their original ambitions and played a crucial role in driving India’s development.

“In the past two decades, these investor summits have far exceeded their original ambitions. They have become catalysts for transformative change, attracting billions of dollars in investments and foundationally driving your vision of a Viksit Bharat,” Adani said.

Ambassadors of 61 countries are present on the occasion along with representatives of high-level business delegations from partner countries such as Bhutan, Thailand, Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia and Japan.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Minister for Communications and DONER Jyotiraditya Scindia are scheduled to preside over various sessions on Tuesday.
