Officials of the Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve reported the discovery of a male adult Royal Bengal Tiger carcass on Tuesday.
The carcass was found at around 8:30 AM by staff of the Lahorijan Anti-Poaching Camp under Central Range of Biswanath Wildlife Division, during a routine patrol in the 6th Addition (Monabari Soil) area of the national park.
Preliminary examination by authorities indicated that the carcass was in an advanced stage of decomposition.
The bones, skin, nails, and teeth were found intact at the site. A post-mortem examination was conducted by the Veterinary Officer of the national park in the presence of the committee members constituted under the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) standard operating protocols.

As per preliminary findings, the cause of death appears to be natural, possibly due to old age. Samples have been collected and preserved for forensic analysis, following which the carcass was disposed of by burning as per established protocol.
As per the recent census, the population of Royal Bengal Tigers in the 6th Addition area of Kaziranga stood at 27, contributing to the overall increase in tiger population of the landscape.
