GUWAHATI: In a bid to champion the cause of women’s empowerment and foster entrepreneurial spirit among young cadets, the 48 Assam Naval Unit NCC proudly unveiled its innovative Social Service and Community Development (SSCD) initiative.

Under the theme, “Empowering Women Entrepreneurs: Forging Paths and Shaping Economics”, this transformative programme is poised to empower female cadets with essential skills and knowledge.

The inauguration ceremony, held on February 21, saw an impressive turnout of nearly 100 NCC girl cadets, each brimming with enthusiasm and determination.

Designed to serve as a launching pad for these aspiring entrepreneurs, the event is aimed at providing a comprehensive platform for career exploration and skill enhancement.

Over the course of seven days, cadets will immerse themselves in real-world entrepreneurial environments, gaining practical insights and experiences that will prove invaluable in their future endeavours.

Distinguished representatives from esteemed organisations such as the North Eastern Handicrafts and Handloom Development Corporation (NEHHDC), the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), ACCESS Development Services, and Sishu Sarathi graced the occasion.

Through a series of lectures and grooming sessions, the cadets will be prepared to gain a deeper understanding of entrepreneurship and women’s empowerment, setting the stage for their journey towards success.

What sets this initiative apart is its hands-on approach, with participating organisations extending invitations for field visits to their institutes in Guwahati.

Surg Vice Admiral Arti Sarin, AVSM, VSM, DGMS (Navy), graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour, lauding the 48 Assam Naval Unit for its pioneering efforts in championing women’s empowerment.

In her address to the cadets, Admiral Sarin underscored the importance of financial independence and self-reliance, urging them to embrace entrepreneurship as a means of achieving their aspirations.

As the curtains rise on this groundbreaking initiative, the 48 Assam Naval Unit NCC reaffirms its commitment to empowering young women and shaping a future where entrepreneurship thrives and barriers are shattered.
