Guwahati: At least 430 Assam government employees have been arrested on corruption charges since 2019, while another 25 have been held for possessing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income, official documents show.
The documents state that most cases are currently under trial and no convictions have been recorded so far.
Of the 430 personnel booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act, the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption wing of Assam Police arrested 302 individuals, the Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell apprehended 88, and another 40 were arrested by various police stations across the state.

Twenty-three of those arrested have been dismissed from service. Charge sheets have been filed against 291 of the accused employees, the documents said, adding that judicial proceedings are underway.
Since 2019, 25 government employees have also been arrested for amassing disproportionate assets, with charge sheets filed in each case.
Departmental proceedings against them are in progress as per service rules.
