GUWAHATI: In a notable recognition of academic excellence, four Assam-based institutions have secured positions among the top 100 institutions in India.
According to the latest rankings released by EduRank, an independent, metric-based ranking system for universities worldwide, the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has secured the 44th position, while Guwahati University (GU) closely follows at the 45th spot.
Additionally, Dibrugarh University has been placed 94th, and Assam University secured the 95th position.
The North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) from Shillong has been placed in the 93rd spot, further highlighting the academic excellence prevalent in the Northeast.
The top position in India has been claimed by the renowned Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, followed by the esteemed University of Delhi (DU) in second place, and the Indian Institute of Science (Bangalore) in third place.
The rankings reflect the academic prowess and influence of these universities on a global scale.
According to the website, the rankings are established by examining 30.9 million citations garnered by 2.69 million academic publications from 876 universities in India, the prominence of 3,706 acknowledged alumni, and utilising the most extensive reference database accessible.
EduRank uses a large database including 14,131 universities from 183 countries.
It assesses universities based on over 98 million scientific publications and more than 2 billion citations across 246 research topics.
Besides academic performance, EduRank also considers factors like non-academic reputation and alumni popularity to give a complete assessment of a university’s influence.
