GUWAHATI: The down town School premises at Hathisila, Panikhaiti were abuzz with creativity and inspiration as 17 young authors were felicitated in an event on August 4. Devaansh Chaudhuri, Dhairyash Agarwal, Shaswat Sharma, Aaryav Adhikary, Kristikaa Barman, Chelsea Chabungbam, Noraiz Irfaan Saleh, Tatiana Thoudam, Aayushman Gautam, Jeet Kingkor Bora, Mayurag Barman, Rishik Goswami, Riyan Aditya Kashyap, Taniya, Varshitha Thalluri, Prithavi Rohit Wadhawan, and Saanvi Dutta Das were honoured with gift hampers, recognising their contribution to literature and ability to captivate readers with vivid imagination and profound understanding.
The event that was aimed at acknowledging and nurturing literary talents witnessed the esteemed presence of distinguished guests, including Dr. NN Dutta, Chairman of The down town Charity Trust, and Principal Maya Alfred Fernandes. Renowned educationist, scientist, actor, and editor, Professor Amarjyoti Choudhury, graced the occasion and shared enlightening perspectives on the subject, leaving a profound impact on the audience.
Principal Fernandes delivered an insightful presentation, highlighting the significance of the young authors’ works and their remarkable impact on the literary world.
Among the honorees, Chelsea Chabungbam’s The Girl Who Hated Math and Saanvi Dutta Das’ multiple publications such as A Bright Red Light, Danger and Emails from my Grandpa received special recognition.
Saanvi’s exceptional work – A Bright Red Light – securing an impressive 43rd rank in the National Best-Sellers League, earned her an exclusive invitation to the Summer Book Writing Festival’s awards and exhibition ceremony on September 2, 2023, at Gurugram’s prestigious Apparel House. Each student’s book stood as a testament to their beautiful and fascinating storytelling abilities, igniting hope and inspiration in the literary community.
Dr. Dutta expressed his visionary thoughts and emphasised the school’s unwavering commitment to nurturing young talents. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Shaswat Sharma from Study Centre – 2, expressing gratitude to all attendees and contributors who made this extraordinary event possible.
