Hailakandi: Around 1,000 Bru insurgents will surrender arms and will return to the mainstream on December 12 at Katlichera in Hailakandi district.
Nabaneet Mahanta, superintendent of police of Hailakandi said members of the United Democratic Liberation Front of Barak Valley (UDLFBV) and the Bru Revolutionary Army of Union (BRAU) will lay down arms on Monday.
Both UDLFBV and BRAU are on a ceasefire, and will formally lay down their arms at a ceremony scheduled to be held close to the Mizoram border.
The arms surrender ceremony will be attended by Assam Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary and Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs minister Pijush Hazarika.
