GUWAHATI: In a spirit of camaraderie and discipline, the Girls NCC cadets of 60 Assam Girls Battalion, NCC Group Headquarters in Guwahati, embarked on a transformative journey at the Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC)-115.
Hosted at the Narangi Transit Facility (NTF) in Guwahati, the 10-day event, beginning from January 2, has brought together a spirited gathering of 350-375 girls NCC cadets from 27 schools, colleges, and universities in Guwahati and nearby areas.
Under the stewardship of Camp Commandant Col Ajay Kumar Sharma, the camp aims to instil a regimented way of life, nurturing traits of discipline, leadership, and civic responsibility.
The diverse group of girls, ranging from Class IX to third-year graduation students, will undergo multifaceted training and engaging activities designed to shape their character and build confidence.
The camp’s curriculum is designed to introduce the cadets to a regimented way of life, highlighting range drill, firing, and specialised training.
Community living, discipline, first-aid, and character building are core elements, promoting holistic development.
Camp Commandant Col Sharma set the tone with an opening address, urging the cadets to embrace discipline, organisation, and the military way of life.
The camp also features various competitions, including volleyball, debate, painting, elocution, firing, tug of war, drill, and table drill.
Expert-led guest lectures on topics including, “Know Your Army”, traffic management, and insights from representatives of NDRF and NEDFi are planned.
Army officers, staff, and Associate NCC Officers (ANOs) will contribute their knowledge to enrich the learning experience.
The facilities at NTF, Narangi, have been prepared to accommodate diverse needs, fostering a conducive environment for both learning and camp activities.
As CATC-115 unfolds, it promises to be more than a training ground; it’s an arena for transformative growth and empowerment, shaping the future leaders of the National Cadet Corps.
