GUWAHATI: In a heartwarming gesture to celebrate the World Children’s Day 2023, a cement company in association with a non-profit organisation distributed school stationery to underprivileged students in 10 childcare homes across Guwahati.
Aimed at empowering children with the tools they need for a brighter educational journey, the initiative reached out to children in care homes such as Kalyani Niwas, Seven Sisters Children Home for Girls in Bhagaduttapur, Sishu Kalyan Sadan, Jalukbari, and Open Shelter Home for Boys, Panjabari, to name a few.
Approximately 12,000 pencils, 7,000 pens, and 1,200 notebooks found their way to these institutions, carefully allocated based on the specific needs identified by Utsah Guwahati, a non-profit organisation.
The child rights organisation played a pivotal role in orchestrating the event, with their officials actively participating alongside representatives from Topcem Cement.
Dr Anil Kapur, a prominent figure at the occasion, highlighted the fundamental right of every child to education. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to Utsah for providing the platform for such a meaningful event.
This isn’t a one-time effort by Topcem Cement. Since its inception in 2021, the company’s commitment to this cause has impacted over 500 students from underprivileged backgrounds.
The ongoing drive aims to bridge the educational resource gap, ensuring that essential materials, such as pencils, pens, and notebooks, become accessible to children who might otherwise struggle to acquire them.
