Itanagar: Union Minister of State for Women & Child Development Savitri Thakur has reviewed the implementation of various schemes and programmes related to the welfare of women and children in Arunachal Pradesh.
Union Minister Savitri Thakur, who is on a three-day visit to the state, held discussions with senior officials of the state Women and Child Development Department in the presence of State WCD Minister Dasanglu Pul.
She emphasised the importance of the effective implementation of various government schemes to ensure inclusive development.
Key focus areas included the implementation and progress of important central schemes, such as Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0, Mission Vatsalya, the Sambal component of Mission Shakti, and women- & child-centric legislations.
Thakur assured that the issues in the implementation of the poshan tracker in the state, “like frequent updates of application and three-day buffer period for no-network areas,” would be resolved at the earliest.
The minister also reviewed the progress of these schemes, addressing the challenges in implementation and discussing critical issues such as infrastructural concerns of Anganwadi centres (AWCs), vacancies in Child Welfare Committees (CWCs) and Juvenile Justice Boards (JJBs), and other operational bottlenecks.
State WCD Minister Dasanglu Pul highlighted the key concerns related to women and child development during the meeting.
WCD Commissioner Mimum Tayeng apprised the union minister of the financial issues pertaining to the construction of destitute homes.

Her visit aims to assess the progress of key welfare schemes for women and children and strengthen collaboration between the central and state governments.
Thakur also called on Governor Lt Gen (Retd) K T Parnaik at Raj Bhawan and discussed issues related to anganwadi services, including supplementary nutrition, preschool non-formal education, nutrition & health education, immunization, health check-ups, and referral services.
