Itanagar: A devastating early-morning house fire in Arunachal Pradesh’s Lohit district claimed the lives of two siblings, aged eight and 15, police said on Wednesday.
The blaze broke out around 3.30 am at Peon Colony in Tezu, the district headquarters, and quickly spread through three adjoining residential structures.
Officials said the buildings were old quarters, and their condition contributed to the rapid spread of the flames, leaving the occupants with little chance to escape.
Fire service personnel and police teams rushed to the spot by around 4 am and managed to bring the fire under control, preventing it from engulfing nearby houses.
However, by the time the blaze was doused, the two children had been fatally trapped inside.

Police said the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
