Itanagar: Tenzin Yangki from Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang district has scripted history by becoming the first woman from the state to be inducted into the Indian Police Service (IPS).
In a post on X, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu lauded Yangki’s achievement, describing it as a proud moment for the entire state.
“Heartfelt congratulations to Miss Tenzin Yangki from Tawang District on becoming the first woman IPS officer from Arunachal Pradesh. Her remarkable journey from the serene mountains of Arunachal to the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy, Hyderabad, reflects courage, determination, and an unwavering sense of duty,” Khandu said.
Tenzin’s achievement is not just a personal milestone but a proud moment for our entire State, he stated.
The chief minister said Yangki’s success symbolises the spirit of Nari Shakti and will inspire young women across the state to pursue their dreams and serve the nation with pride.
He also wished her a bright and fulfilling career in public service.
Tenzin Yangki is the daughter of late Thupten Tempa, former IAS officer and ex-Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, and Jigmi Choden, retired Secretary (APCS).
Before cracking UPSC, she cleared the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) Examination in 2017 and served as a Circle Officer in Siang district.

She holds an MA and MPhil in International Relations from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, and has briefly served as an Assistant Professor of Political Science — a testament to her academic excellence and commitment to nation-building.
